WOULD YOU LIKE TO PARTICIPATE IN AN

ART PROJECT?

I am a HEAD AND NECK patient at the CONTINUUM CANCER CENTER in NYC. After being diagnosed with oral cancer in 2007 I underwent a major surgery that changed my appearance, my voice and left me with a severe speech impairment.
Being a student-artist (www.rpi.edu) I have thought of HIDDEN BEAUTY to help people around us look at our scars and facial reconstructions in a new and different way, guiding their sight into a search for BEAUTY – I mean the beauty that, like any other person in the world, is reflected through the light of our eyes, facial expressions and skin. Whatever skin it is, radiated or reconstructed, it is and will always be the vehicle of our UNDISCUSSED BEAUTY as human beings.
Since the beauty of a perfectly smooth skin and a regular body is obvious…

I AM LOOKING FOR PEOPLE WITH EVIDENT RECONSTRUCTIONS, SCARS OR PHYSICAL DISABILITIES WHO FEEL LIKE SHARING MY ENTHUSIASM FOR THE PROJECT.

If you think you might decide to participate, these steps will explain your involvement and my work:

  1. I will take a few quick pictures of you and I will ask you for permission to use those pictures for the purpose of the art project ONLY
  2. I will select the pictures that better suit the purpose of the project
  3. After conducting some visual studies around any selected image I will produce an artwork that aims to express an idea of beauty
  4. All the artworks will be published in this website
  5. It will be my goal to give this project the recognition it deserves and you will always be informed of and invited at any possible exhibition concerning HIDDEN BEAUTY
